We may be quick to quote the words of these verses from memory, however putting them into practice can be quite a different story. To trust with all our heart is to give our whole self over to God in reliance upon him. If we were to hold something back as if it were too precious for God’s wisdom, direction and help with, we are choosing to lean on our own understanding. Or in other words, we are choosing to trust in ourselves rather than trusting in our God. Nothing can stand in the way of our trust in God for it to be truly trust.
King Solomon who penned this proverb was given great wisdom by God (1 Kings 4:29-34). So often our wisdom comes from what we have experienced or what we would like to happen yet that does not guarantee success. To acknowledging God, is to know him and to belong to him – to take and use his wisdom by following his instruction. Then we get the guarantee that he will make straight our paths. He will guide us correctly and efficiently through life following his will for us. Could there be a safer or happier place to be?
