2 Corinthians 6:14

Happy Valentines Day! This one is for all the single ladies out there.

Falling in love is fun but how do we choose who to love? What qualities are important? Before we choose to love we need to answer these two questions contained in this verse.

“For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?”

In Paul’s second letter to the Corinthian Church, he makes this caution to the believers to not unequally yoke themselves with unbelievers in relationships, romantic or professional (as in business partnerships). Having committed ourselves to Christ, we now have a responsibility to represent him. If we commit ourselves to a nonchristian after we have committed ourselves to Christ how can we continue in to grow more like Christ? There will be a conflict of interests.

Flirt to convert is not a sound method of evangelism! How can we be representing Christ when we are deliberately going against his word? Our goals and objectives in life are different of that of the world. Christ and his word must be our priority. We can’t be in a partnership and be headed in two different directions. It just doesn’t work.

What if there are no Godly guys around? What is a girl to do? Hold on to Gods word, he will honour that! There is a cost in following Jesus and sometimes the price is singleness. Sometimes patience is required. Ask any married woman who has a husband who honours God with the way he leads his family and I am sure she would recommend waiting for a Godly man.

If you want one and haven’t got one… PRAY FOR HIM. If you are going to get married he will be out there somewhere! Praying for our husbands/future husbands will have an effect that we will not fully see this side of heaven. Pray for him, he might be praying for you.
