Hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray Her Majesty the Queen is 90 today! It is a milestone for anyone to reach 90 years of age but it is particularly special when it is our longest reigning monarch. She has dedicated her whole life to serve her people and she has shown unwavering loyalty, commitment and duty in doing so. The Queen has made no secret of her faith in God and to celebrate her birthday the Bible Society have published a book in her honour. It is called The Servant Queen and the King she serves, which includes a foreword by Her Majesty the Queen.
The Servant Queen and the King she serves
Monarch and mother, grandmother and most photographed person on the planet, senior citizen who works over 40 hours a week, Supreme Governor of the Church of England, who feeds her own dogs, the Queens remarkable life of service to nation and commonwealth has made her one of the most admired people in the world. But what is the source of her inspiration and strength in the good times and tough times?
This beautifully illustrated tribute focuses on the Queen’s own words to draw out the central role of her trust in Jesus Christ in shaping her life and work, offering us an inspiring, multi-faceted insight into a life well lived for others.
I know just how much I rely on my faith to guide me through the good times and the bad. Each day is a new beginning. I know that the only way to live my life is to try to do what is right, to take the long view, to give of my best in all that the day brings, and to put my trust in God… I draw strength from the message of hope in the Christian Gospel.
